- A lump, hard knot or swelling in the chest/chest area.
- The skin on the chest/chest area dimples or puckers.
- The nipple pulls inward, toward the chest wall.
- There is any redness or scaling on the nipples.
- There is a discharge from the nipples.
If you have any of the warning signs listed above do not ignore them. Make an appointment with your health care provider, you may need to:
- Have your chest checked by the doctor.
- Have an ultrasound or biopsy.
If breast cancer is detected you will need treatment. The type of treatment you will receive depends on the type of cancer it is and how early it was detected. The sooner it's found the better!
Though it is considered rare, men get breast cancer too. About 1,970 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in men and approximately 390 will die.
